European trip #16: Descending from Tourbillon

Some random pics as I made my way down the hill from the Tourbillon Castle. The structure you see in a few of the photos is the Valere Basilica or Valere Castle. I do wish I would’ve had time to explore this castle, as well. It is a fortified Roman Catholic Church, meaning it was a church built with defensive features, to serve as a refuge during times of war. The tunnel in the second to last photo is how you access Rue Des Chateau to get to Tourbillon. #castleruins #switzerland #history #sionswitzerland
