I think this was outside of a restaurant that I was at. I am really not sure. :p Apparently, I thought it was cute enough to snap a picture!

Candle Celebration Card

This was a very basic card that I made using older stamps that I had. I wanted to make something quick that didn’t not require coloring with markers or pencils. I stamped the candles and then used a tag layering die and cut out the stamped piece, as well as a larger layering piece in purple. I attached these pieces to the card with a purple eyelet at both ends of the tag piece. I used a multi-color pad to stamp the confetti background, and a corner punch on all four corners of the background piece. I layered this entire piece on top of a green cardstock base.

European Trip #6: Lucerne, Switzerland

European trip musings #6: Same day in Lucerne, Switzerland. One of the most visited sights in Lucerne is its foot bridges, in particular, the Chapel Bridge and the Spreuer Bridge. After seeing pics on social media of these bridges and the surrounding city, this was a must on my sightseeing list. Built in 1333 and 1408, respectively, these bridges serve as pathways over the Reuss, the river that runs into and out of Lake Lucerne. Not only pathways for crossing the river, they are also a form of an indoor/outdoor art museum. Over 200 triangular paintings were originally hung in these wooden bridges. These paintings depicted scenes of Swiss history (Chapel Bridge) and the Dance of Death (Spreuer Bridge). While we took some pics in front of the Chapel Bridge with its iconic stone tower, we did not get a chance to walk across it, but we did walk across the Spreuer Bridge. Walking across the Spreuer Bridge gives a closer look of the needle dam or weir. Our good friend Wikipedia says “a needle dam is a weir designed to maintain the level or flow of a river through the use of thin “needles” of wood. The needles are leaned against a solid frame and are not intended to be water-tight. Individual needles can be added or removed by hand to constrict the flow of the river, forming a sluice.” Lucerne’s needle dam was one of the early needle dams, and was built between 1859-1861, to prevent flooding. #needledam #reuss #spreuerbrücke #lucernehistory #lucerneswitzerland

European Trip #5 Lucerne, Switzerland

European trip musings #5: Ahhhhh…..Lake Lucerne. One of the first things I fell in love with in Switzerland. This lake is the fourth largest in Switzerland, at 44 square miles, with a maximum depth of just over 700 feet. With its four basins, it resembles the shape of a cross. Surrounded by the Pilatus and Rigi mountains, this alpine lake has a fjord like appearance. It is believed to have been formed as a glacial lake about 12,000 years ago, at the end of the Ice Age. #lucerne #swisslake #lakelucerne #alpinelake

European Trip #4: Lucerne, Switzerland

European trip musings #4: This group of young women performing on the street made me think of Sound of Music. It definitely added to the ambiance of the city. More street views as we walked along the brick and cobbled streets. More amazing architecture, and a wide variety of shops. This is known as Old Town Lucerne, or Altstadt, and sits on the banks of Lake Lucerne. Walking and biking are main modes of transportation in this area. #lucerne #swissarchitecture #oldtown #altstadt

Welcome home (to WDW)

Is there anything better than walking into the Magic Kingdom and being greeted first thing by Mickey & Minnie? I can think of few things better to kick start a day at the most magical place on earth. This photo was taken in February, 2022, during the 18 month celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Stitched & layered card

Some people might look at this card and think it is too busy, but I absolutely love it. I love the color palette of blue and green, with a touch of brown. I love the stitching around the edges Of the different layers, and the use of ribbon as an element. I especially love the layered aspect, giving the card dimension. Tiny pearls as an embellishment are a very nice addition. (Photo source unknown.)

European trip #3: Lucerne, Switzerland

European trip musings #3: After wrangling the rental car into a space in the parking garage, we set off to see some of Lucerne on foot. Being raised in the suburbs, cities, especially old ones, fascinate me. I always love the architecture of the buildings, and Lucerne was my first glimpse of what lay ahead on this trip. This was where we found our first McDonald’s, which was a 2-story walk up, and actually quite busy. We saw the first Swatch store, of which we would see quite a few. I had forgotten that Swatch was Swiss made, and in the age of Apple Watches, really did not realize they were still around. Here’s a little bit about Swatch, from our good friend Wikipedia: Swatch is a Swiss watch company founded in 1983 by Ernst Thomke, Elmar Mock, and Jacques Müller. It is a subsidiary of The Swatch Group. The Swatch product line was developed as a response to the “quartz crisis” of the 1970s and 1980s, in which inexpensive, battery-powered, quartz-regulated watches were competing against more established European watchmakers focused on artisanal craftsmanship producing mostly mechanical watches. The name Swatch is a contraction of “second watch”, its concept of “low-cost, high-tech, artistic and emotional” watches marketed as casual, disposable accessories. ⌚️⌚️⌚️Since I stopped wearing watches several years ago (since I can’t see them without readers! 🤓🤭) I did not purchase a Swatch watch while in Switzerland. It was cool to check them out, as they are a fun accessory, and I’m glad to see they are still around. #swiss #europeancity #lucerne #europeanarchitecture
